Wrexham General engineering through Sunday — Chester–Shrewsbury on buses, North Wales via Crewe

TfW works around Wrexham General to 30 August. Not a Chester–Llandudno coast blockade. Check before you travel.

Transport for Wales is running major work in the Wrexham General area through Sunday 30 August (drainage at Babbinswood, between Chirk and Gobowen). Holyhead, Llandudno Junction and Chester services toward Shrewsbury, Birmingham International and Cardiff are diverted via Crewe with longer journeys. Buses replace trains between Wrexham General and Shrewsbury; some buses extend to Chester.

Crewe–Wrexham General is typically one an hour and may terminate at Chester. This is not a closure of the North Wales Coast between Chester and Llandudno Junction — that blockade was a different weekend. Tickets stay valid on the advertised diversion and the buses. Check tfw.wales before you leave.

TfW planned improvement works and National Rail bank-holiday notice, checked 28 August 2026.
